Our County Relay for Life Event will be held on Friday, May 8th at AHS! We would LOVE for your family to attend. You may also show your support by:
-Becoming a 2015 Relay for Life Sponsor! Sponsorships range from $100-$2,000
-Dedicate a luminaria in Memory, Honor, or in Appreciation of someone you love! Luminarias are $10 each or 3 for $25 and will be displayed at the county event.
Ways PPES Students can help to support the fight against cancer:
-Buy a purple bow to display on your classroom door! Bows are $5 each
-Take a step to help fight cancer! Students can purchase a footprint that will be displayed at school! Each footprint is $1
-Saving lives...one dime at a time! Each classroom will be collecting DIMES. The goal is to completely fill a water bottle full of dimes! The classroom that collects the most $ overall will be rewarded with a special prize!
-6th GRADE ONLY: Penny Wars
Penny Wars is a game to be competed between all 6th grade homerooms. The object is to get as many points as possible during the "war." The money raised during the penny war will be donated to Relay for Life!
Penny Wars will only last 2 weeks.
Students put their pennies in their class' container. ONE point is received for every PENNY in the container. Classes may put other coins and paper currency into the containers of OTHER classes. Each silver coin or bill reduces the number of points from that container by the amount of the coin. (e.g. a nickel reduces the points by five, a dime by ten, a dollar by 100, etc...) This is where the strategy counts. So for example--if a student puts a $20 bill in another class's container...that class will lose 2,000 points! Have fun with it! A rotating award will be given to the the leading class each day!
PPES will be hosting Relay Recess this year! Any student who contributes to our Relay for Life fundraiser will be included in our FUN Relay Recess here at school.
Our "Under the Sea" Scholastic Book Fair was a SUCCESS!! Thank you to each and every parent, student, teacher, staff member and community member who came out and supported our annual book fair! This year we exceeded ALL past sales with a gross total of $12, 763.39!
Every student had a book given to them by PPES and every teacher received either a gift certificate or a book donated to them by their student/parent. We also had multiple donations given by parents, churches and community members.
Because PPES uses the profit to purchase books with Scholastic and because we exceeded our sales this year, PPES media center will receive 60% of the sales! $7, 173.80 will be spent with Scholastic on NEW LIBRARY BOOKS!
Media Nights will be held once a month on Wednesdays from 3pm until 7pm. Students can come into the Media Center, with a guardian/parent, during this time to access various Media Center resources. They may work on AR goals for the nine weeks, projects, homework, read/exchange books, and use computers.

It's Spring Bonus Time! This month we get extra points for Campbell's & Pepperidge Farm UPC's- up to 1,250 points! That includes soup, goldfish crackers, herb stuffing, garlic bread and more. We collect Box Tops for Education! Please send any that you may have from home to school. Money we earn from this will be used for school purchases only!
Don't throw away those empty ink cartridges!
We also collect any used printer cartridges from any type of printer. Just send these by the school and help us earn even more money for PPES!
